Default Wintersday Event Discussion

Hello Guru Forum members

This thread is aimed at being a discussion about the Wintersday event as a whole. Feel free to speculate on it here.
I hope that they bring back the Candy Canes. I began playing Guild Wars midway through the last Wintersday and obviously had absolutely no idea what was going on. I can still remember getting lost in a snowy Ascalon This year I'm definitely planning on stockpiling them. 1k per is definitely not bad at all. I'd also like to participate in more snowball fights. Now that I have a firm grasp on the controls and visuals (LOL) I can imagine how much fun they would be. I'm not so much into the CC weapons, but I hope they make a return too. It's a nice addition IMO.

Please no flaming as this is just a speculation thread.

CC'S FTW!

Elf hats...

I'm kinda hoping they'd do the same as they did with the pumpkin helms. Make another yule cap, but a bit different so that people who were around the first time still have something unique(ish).

I wasn't playing GW then..

I think you got it confused with the Winterfest 2006 Ladder Season: Wintergreen Weapons prizes:

http://www.guildwars.com/competitive...erfest2006.php

we are talking about what are the likely collectables this time which could be the same with a different item included or perhaps a whole new set of items as well. As for Elf Hats, so far the mention has only appeared in suggestion sections and no official word has been released (at least not to my knowledge) on the hats for winsterday yet.

The "green" candycane weapons (not like "unique green", they mean green stripes) are for the PvP tourny, I think. Might not have the same thing for Wintersday.

At any rate, I think it's safe to assume it won't be the same as last year, I'd wager they'll split up the events into Tyria and Elona (like the Halloween event), possibly Cantha too, though this is just speculation.

Given how useful and popular Candy Canes are, I doubt Anet would discontinue them, though I'd expect some other new thing with similar usefulness if they do replace it with something else.

Other than that, we'll have to wait and see, only thing we can be sure of is that Anet will make it fun.

I'm hoping for CC Spears.
When is this event expected? Somewhere around new year or so? a bit early on the discussion then.

All these calls for candy canes, edible weapons, and silly holiday garb when all I can think about is drowning myself in a vat of spiked eggnog for, oh, say about 10,000 minutes or so.

Anyone remember what was exchanged for the Candy Canes? I know to get the Halloween items this year you exchanged the same items as you did last year for them. Just cannot remember what we turned in to get the CC's. Any ideas?
